Shadows, Sound, and Solidarity

This past week was a whirlwind of activity, moving from the quiet focus of the studio to the high energy of live performances.

The week kicked off with the Halfway to Halloween event in the courtyard at Deviant Libation, put on by Rented Technologies. Between the DJs on the outdoor stage and vendors showcasing their spooky wares, it was a night full of music and movement.

Early in the week, I spent time in my makeshift studio working on several new compositions. One particular study focused on the interplay of light, shadows, and reflections, using a dried rose stem and a southern magnolia as the primary elements. Exploring those textures in a controlled environment provided a nice contrast to the week’s later events. I also dedicated time to the digital side of the craft, streamlining the website shop and adjusting pricing to better reflect the true cost of production and materials.

Mid-week, I photographed a fundraiser concert for the Tampa Bay Immigration Solidarity Network hosted at Deviant Libation. It was a fantastic turnout for a great cause, with a lineup featuring Pigeon Chess, Stop & Shop, PB&TAT, Earth Girl, and the Abortion Twins.

To wrap things up, I’m headed back to Deviant Libation on Friday to document five bands I’ve never seen or heard before—there’s nothing quite like the challenge of photographing a fresh live set.

One final note, 3 new compositional prints will become available in the shop on Sunday, after 12:01 PM.
