Snares, Shutter Clicks, and Pure Control
There is a distinct kind of energy that exists only when you are cornered between a wall of sound and flying foam projectiles. This past Saturday, the camera and I went into the trenches of the local music scene to capture the beautiful, abrasive chaos of a three-band punk lineup: Chulismo, Spenjamin Bach, and Pig Pen.
Photographing live punk sets is always an exercise in fast reflexes, but adding a full-scale Nerf warfare layer to the room elevated it to pure performance art. Tracking the raw momentum of the bands while dodging crossfire forces an absolute focus. You stop thinking about the technical settings and start moving entirely on instinct. The honesty of those unpolished, high-adrenaline moments is exactly what drives my documentary work. Every bead of sweat, every jarring chord, and every flying dart belongs to the story of the night.
Manifesting the Print: Infrastructure Upgrades
As vital as it is to capture the moment accurately, the work is only half-realized until it exists in the physical world. For a long time, the reliance on third-party print providers felt like a compromise. A break in the creative chain where control was handed over to automated workflows and distant labs.
That compromise ended this week with the installation and configuration of a new asset in the studio: a Canon ImagePROGRAF professional printer. This system transitions all print production entirely in-house, covering everything from fine art 4x6s up to commanding 13x19 exhibition formats.
The true value here isn’t just about efficiency or removing the middleman. It is about absolute visual sovereignty. Having this hardware on-site allows for meticulous, uncompromising discretion with paper selection. Soft proofing has meaning now, as I can now test, adjust, and match the specific tooth, weight, and tonal depth of an archival sheet to the exact emotional weight of an image, ensuring the final physical piece looks precisely as it was intended to exist.
The First Proofs: 12x18 Editions
To calibrate the system and mark this new chapter of production, the first official output consisted of four distinct 12x18 fine art prints, each dedicated to a specific destination:
For the Community: The very first print off the line was crafted specifically for the crew at Deviant Libation and has already been delivered to its new home.
For the Ritual: Two custom prints were produced to commemorate an upcoming wedding ceremony in Fort Lauderdale. These physical pieces will be presented directly to the bride and groom.
For the Collection: The final print of the inaugural run marks the official beginning of a major new release.
Featured Print Release: "Read to Me Daddy!"

Taking ownership of the entire pipeline. From the instant the shutter clicks in a chaotic room, to the moment the heavy, ink-rich paper slides out of the tray, changes the relationship with the art entirely. The loop is closed.
