Painting with Light: The Origin of Indulgent Ars

Why not simply call it “Photography by Lawrence”? The answer is quite simple: my work is more than clicking a shutter button to take a picture. It goes beyond the clinical documentation of a scene.

To me, photography is the art of painting with light and color. When these elements are combined with the right composition, they evoke an emotional reaction that allows us to truly take pleasure in a moment. I chose the word “indulgent” to convey this sense of immersion and appreciation.

As for the second half of the name? Photography is a craft. Much like writing, drawing, or painting. So, I wanted to give a nod to that classical tradition, which led me to the Latin word Ars.

Thus, Indulgent Ars was born.
